Dear Lorraine,
From Thanksgiving to New Years Eve, nothing quite
beats the holidays in DC! Washington DC offers so
much that it's impossible to see/do everything. (It
can be such fun trying though!)

Introducing our newest innkeeper!

Holli joined us in October, quickly settled in, and
enjoys spending time with our guests.
Holli went to Whittier College in LA and majored in
English. She is contemplating graduate studies but
has made no decisions as yet. Holli grew up in
Wyoming. She worked at a guest lodge outside of
Yellowstone Park and at a B&B on the Pacific Coast

Behind the name - Anna Cooper

Anna Julia Cooper was a teacher, a high
school
principal; a scholar and a college
professor; and a graduate of the University of Paris
with an earned doctorate. Ms Cooper was the 4th
African American woman to receive this degree.
Throughout her life, she was an author, speaker,
community worker, organized leader and president of
an institution of Higher Education. One also must
consider that she lived over half her life before
women were even granted the right to vote. Ms.
Cooper was clearly a woman ahead of her time. She
devoted her life to the betterment of those around
her. As a result, a good many of her students went
on to attend Ivy League Universities.
Her home sits on the corner of Second and T Street
and is currently undergoing a complete renovation.

Here is a touching story about one of our brave
servicemen who was injured on September 2004
south of Fallujah. Written by guest Kate Wiltrout for
The Virginian-Pilot while staying at the
Bloomingdale Inn.
